Tips for Organizing a Wedding

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

loose diamonds are an easy option when finding an engagement ring. Choosing from gia certified diamonds guarantees that you are purchasing a legitimate diamond. The next step is to pick a setting for the stone. Then you have the perfect dream ring to get married with. However, this is just one of the many steps towards getting married. There are a lot of steps to putting together the perfect wedding day.

Once you have set a date for the wedding; it cements the beginning of the process. There are a lot of aspects that depend on setting the date. Reserving the location of the wedding and reception is somewhat urgent to prevent those places being previously booked. Remember the date cards can be made and invitations. Before sending out the invitations you need to create a unconfirmed list of guests. Trying to agree on the perfect number of guests at a wedding is near to impossible. Trying to keep a guest list small is difficult when it is so easy to think of people to add to come to your special day. Remember to count the “plus one” for those individuals invited who may bring a date when calculating your estimated number of guests.

Then there are all of the things concerning the wedding party. The groom and the bride need to decide on their best man and maid of honor, and the rest of the bridal party members. If there are small children, you could consider having a ring bearer or a flower girl. With larger intimate families this can be a difficult process because no one wants to be excluded, but it is also hard to have an extremely large wedding party. Though choosing the bridal party can be hard, there is a lot of good that comes along with the wedding parties like bachelor and bachelorette parties if you decide to have them, wedding showers, and finding thank you gifts for the groomsman and bridesmaids.

The planning of a wedding can be quite hectic with all of the choices and little decisions, but hopefully the wedding party is helpful and the groom and bride work together on the decisions. It is important to pick a color scheme early in the process because from there the other decisions will stem like the type and color of flowers, the color of bridesmaid dresses, and linens for the reception. Then of course are the decisions about catering, the cake, music options, seating charts, a photographer, and possibly a videographer. Deciding what the groom and the groomsman wear will help decide how formal the wedding party looks. A suit will be a more casual choice, a tux will be a more traditional formal look, and if you choose a tux with tails it is a very formal look. Of course the choice that everyone thinks about is the bride’s dress.

When it all comes together, all your decisions will become the dream wedding. Look past the tension that comes with planning to see that this is an expression of your love for one another. Do not let the stress become to overwhelming. The focus should always be one each other and your life together.

Planning the Dream Proposal

Monday, June 15th, 2009

The stresses of ring shopping can make proposing a nightmare. Trying to decide on a stone, the cut of the stone, the type of metal, and the style of the ring might become too stressful especially when also trying to decide what is a reasonable retail price. One way to simplify the process of purchasing the ring is to go to wholesale jewelers to look at wholesale diamonds. This can be easier and less expensive than buying a ring from a retail jeweler. Wholesale shopping allows less hassle and you still walk away with a beautiful ring.

Once you have found the perfect ring or diamond to have set in a ring, the next step is to plan the proposal. A proposal does not need to be completely over the top like in every romantic comedy, though that may be what you want to do. More important than proposals in movies is what your partner is going to find the most heartfelt. You may think that having the marching band at a football game form the words, “will you marry me?” is , but does your partner?

An interesting idea for a proposal is a destination proposal. You can plan a vacation for you and your loved one. This does not require draining the bank account to go to Paris; you could stay local, but go someplace new and romantic. With a destination proposal, you can create memories attached to a place that you can go back to for years after. Think about the romantic getaway thirty years from now when you return to the spot you propose at for an anniversary celebration.

Another simple way to make the proposal memorable is to revisit something from your relationship’s past. Go back to the place where you and your partner met to pop the question. Another option is to redo the first date you and your partner had. A proposal like this would portray a lot of consideration and true nostalgia.

Maybe those ideas are too extravagant for you. If you and your partner are more practical and would not enjoy the aforementioned ideas, consider a simplified idea. Go out for a nice dinner or stay home and make a meal together. People seem to assume certain qualifications are necessary for a proposal to be memorable, but if the characteristics of a typical proposal do not fit your lifestyle, then do not follow them. There is nothing better than a genuinely unique proposal.

One thing to remember when proposing is that you are asking a question, which means there is more than one potential answer. Though it is not necessarily pleasant to consider, you may not get the answer you expect. Thinking about the worst case scenario may be helpful when planning how to propose. If you are unsure or do not do well with public attention, proposing over the jumbo-screen at a sporting event or in sky-writing could be problematic. No matter how or where you propose, do not let the stress ruin the situation. Never forget that this is an amazing act of love and commitment that solidifies the happy future ahead with your partner.
